The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Bauchi State Chapter, congratulates the newly elected leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bauchi State Council, led by Comrade Isah Garba Gadau.
SWAN Bauchi describes the successful election as an important milestone in the affairs of the journalism profession in the state and commends members of the NUJ for exercising their democratic rights in choosing the new leadership.
The Association expresses confidence that the Isah Garba Gadau-led executive will build on the achievements of previous administrations and introduce initiatives that will further strengthen the journalism profession and improve the welfare of journalists across the state.
SWAN particularly looks forward to greater emphasis on continuous professional training and capacity building, which will equip journalists with the skills required to operate effectively in today’s rapidly changing media environment.
The Association also urges the new NUJ leadership to prioritise the protection of journalists’ rights, welfare and professional independence, while promoting an environment where journalists can carry out their constitutional responsibilities without intimidation or undue interference.
SWAN Bauchi believes that stronger collaboration among media unions and associations will contribute significantly to advancing the interests of journalists and promoting responsible journalism in Bauchi State.
The Association therefore pledges its continued support and cooperation with the new NUJ leadership, especially in areas of professional development, journalists’ welfare, capacity building and the promotion of unity within the media community.
SWAN Bauchi wishes Comrade Isah Garba Gadau and his team a successful tenure and calls on all journalists in the state to support the new leadership as it works towards a stronger, more united and professionally vibrant journalism community.
