‎Media Professionals, Policymakers Mark 2026 World Radio Day with Focus on AI

‎Media professionals, policymakers and broadcast stakeholders on Thursday marked the 2026 World Radio Day with a high-level dialogue examining the future of radio in the age of artificial intelligence.

The event, organised by a Founding Member of Society of Nigeria Broadcasters (SNB), Ambassador Dr. Yemi Farounbi in collaboration with the United Nations, in Ibadan, was held under the theme, Radio & Artificial Intelligence.

‎Delivering the keynote address, Ambassador Farounbi (OON), emphasized the need for responsible adoption of digital technologies to strengthen democratic processes and enhance public confidence in the media.

‎ Panelists, including Chief Dr. Adebisi Adesola, former Secretary to the Oyo State Government; and Deacon Owolabi Oladejo, South West Zonal Chairman of the Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria (BON), examined how the industry can balance technological advancement with accountability.

‎The event concluded with participants reaffirming radio’s enduring relevance as a trusted platform for information and civic engagement.
