The Ondo State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on fraud and related criminal activities with the arrest of six suspects over an alleged fake miracle scam in Idanre.
The suspects were apprehended on February 16, 2026, following a well-coordinated, intelligence-led operation carried out by the Command’s Tactical Teams in collaboration with Community Safety Officers (CSOs).
The operation was launched after credible reports indicated that a suspected fraud syndicate was operating within Idanre and its environs.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly posed as pastors and religious leaders, staging fake miracles and spiritual interventions to win the confidence of unsuspecting victims.
The police said the group exploited the faith and vulnerabilities of members of the public by promising divine solutions to financial, health and personal challenges, only to defraud them through various forms of obtaining by false pretence.
The suspects were identified as Fadahunsi, Kolade, Tijani, Iyanuoluwa, Arijesulola and Ademola.
According to police sources, the suspects operated in a coordinated manner, assigning specific roles among themselves to create a convincing façade of legitimacy.
Further investigations are ongoing to determine the total number of victims, assess the financial scale of the alleged fraud and track other possible accomplices who may still be at large.
All six suspects remain in police custody and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
The Command cautioned residents to exercise vigilance and due diligence, warning against falling prey to individuals who use religion or promises of miracles as a cover for criminal activities.
Members of the public were urged to verify suspicious claims, resist dubious financial demands and promptly report questionable gatherings to the nearest police station.
Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, the Command said it remains resolute in ridding the state of criminal elements through sustained intelligence gathering, community partnership and strategic operations.(Impart News Network)
