The Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of three children at the Nwezenyi community in Igbeagu, Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Joshua Ukandu, said the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Izzi received a formal report from the parents of the abducted children.
It will be recalled that on February 7, 2026, three children were abducted opposite Nkwagu Military Cantonment, while another three were reportedly kidnapped in the Nkaliki area of the state prior to the latest incident in Nwezenyi.
The police spokesperson stated that the command has commenced investigations into the matter and expressed concern over the recent spate of child abductions in the state.
According to sources, a yet-to-be-identified young woman had rented an apartment in the compound a few days before allegedly abducting the three children, who are said to be siblings.
The siblings, identified as Favour, Obinna, and Kamso Okeoha, were reportedly abducted on Saturday when their parents were away from home.
Residents of the compound, who spoke to journalists on condition of anonymity, said the incident has left the community in shock and panic.
“We are still in shock over what happened. The young lady rented the apartment on Thursday, moved in on Friday, and by Saturday abducted the three siblings,” one resident said.
“Because she stayed for just one day before the incident, we do not even know her identity,” another added.
A different resident alleged that the suspect had painted her room and inscribed the words “One Love” on the wall, possibly to create a friendly impression among neighbors.
When journalists visited the compound, the apartment was seen painted with the inscription “One Love” on the wall.
Efforts to speak with the children’s parents were unsuccessful, as they were said to have gone to the police station to complete formal documentation. Sympathizers were, however, observed waiting at the residence for their return.(Thecabal)
