Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has been temporarily released from the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The development was disclosed on Friday by his son, Bashir El-Rufai, in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, where he confirmed that his father had been freed from detention.
In the post, Bashir expressed gratitude to supporters while strongly criticising the anti-graft agency, describing the detention as unjust.
El-Rufai has been in ICPC custody since February 18 over allegations bordering on financial misconduct and other related offences.
As of the time of filing this report, the ICPC has not issued an official statement outlining the conditions of his temporary release or the next steps in its investigation.
The development comes shortly after the death of his mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, who reportedly passed away earlier on Friday in Cairo, Egypt.(FCT Correspondence Chapel)
