NUJ, Army Forge Stronger Ties to Boost National Security

The Commandant, Nigeria Army Depot, Osogbo, Brigadier General Buhari Madaki, has commended journalists for their critical role in promoting national security through responsible reportage and information dissemination.

Brigadier General Madaki made the remark while receiving the executives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State Council, during a courtesy visit to the Depot.

He emphasized that ensuring security in the country remains a collective responsibility of all stakeholders, describing the media as key partners in sustaining peace and stability.

The Commandant described the visit as timely and significant, noting that the Nigeria Army Depot, Osogbo, established in June last year, was created to train non-commissioned officers as part of efforts to strengthen the operational capacity of the Nigerian Army.

Brigadier General Madaki also highlighted the importance of applying strategic awareness and informed judgment, referred to as cognizance, in addressing and defeating terrorism and other security challenges facing the nation.

Earlier in his remarks, Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists,Osun State Council, Comrade Adeyemi Aboderin, commended the Nigerian Army for its unwavering dedication and commitment to combating insurgency and safeguarding territorial integrity of the country.

He stressed the need for sustained collaboration between journalists and the military, noting that such synergy is vital for fostering peace, unity, and national development.

Other officials of the Depot who were present at the visit include the Deputy Commandant, Colonel M.E Obi, Major Y.A Ibrahim and Captain A.A Bindawa.(Dtruth online media)
