A devastating natural disaster has struck the Ukum Local Government area of Benue State, resulting in widespread destruction of church buildings, residential houses, schools, and business centers.
The rain which started at approximately 6:35 am on Wednesday, was accompanied by strong winds, causing extensive damage that lasted for about an hour. This calamity has left residents in a state of mourning, grappling with the hardships they are currently facing.
The structures destroyed include the Ukum Local Government guest house meeting hall, Hanank College, NKST church Use, Roman Catholic church Use, Hon. Ukor’s perimeter fence, Ezekiel Sevav’s residence, a house belonging to Bishop Igbudu, and Terna Kpelai’s house, all located in the chanel 2 settlement area, among several other buildings.
Reports indicate that, some of the destroyed houses belong to displaced individuals who are currently seeking refuge in the area.
Residents, including Mr. James Tor, Manasseh Agwaza, Paul Akera, and Emmanuel Chukwu, have expressed dismay over their losses, attributing the incident to the will of God.
They appealed for assistance from benevolent individuals, citing limited financial resources as a result of the crisis in the axis.
Though the disaster did not affect Zaki Biam town, situated a few kilometers away from sankera, chanel 2 settlement area.(The Legend News)
