The Adamawa State Government has relaxed the curfew earlier imposed on Lamurde Local Government Area, permitting residents to move freely between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. daily with immediate effect.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri announced the decision on Tuesday in Yola through his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, saying the adjustment was part of ongoing efforts to restore normalcy following recent unrest in the area.
Despite easing the restrictions, the governor issued a stern warning to those responsible for the disturbances, revealing that security agencies have identified individuals linked to the violence and would ensure they face justice.
“This gesture shouldn’t be taken lightly. Those behind the violence have been identified and will face consequences. The era of leniency is over; anyone breaking the law will be arrested and prosecuted,” the governor said.
He urged law-abiding residents to carry out their daily activities peacefully, assuring them of the government’s commitment to safeguarding their rights and freedoms.
“The government will protect your rights and freedoms, but won’t hesitate to act against troublemakers,” he added. “You’ve been warned. The government is watching, and justice will be served. Don’t test our patience.”
Governor Fintiri also called on community leaders and other stakeholders to work together to sustain peace and prevent a recurrence of violence in Lamurde.
