Governor Agbu Kefas has pledged to deploy security personnel to Chanchanji Ward in Takum Local Government Area to enable farmers to return safely to their homes and farmlands, while also providing relief materials for displaced residents.

The development was disclosed by the governor’s Special Assistant on Digital Economy and State Coordinator of the Made in Nigeria Special Project Office, Justin Aondoaseer Tyopuusu, who said the initiative aims to restore normalcy in the troubled community.

Tyopuusu noted that the governor’s decision would help rebuild confidence among residents and reassure them of the state government’s commitment to their safety and welfare.

In a statement made available to journalists on Thursday in Jalingo, Tyopuusu commended Governor Kefas for his courageous and compassionate visit to Chanchanji Ward, following about four months of persistent security challenges that displaced families and disrupted economic activities in the area.

He recalled that Governor Kefas recently visited the affected community alongside his Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia, where they interacted with internally displaced persons (IDPs) who had fled their homes due to repeated attacks.

According to Tyopuusu, the visit by the two governors was not merely symbolic but a strong demonstration of leadership, solidarity, and inter-state cooperation in addressing insecurity along the border communities of Taraba and Benue states.

He further commended the leaders for agreeing to establish a joint peace committee comprising representatives from both states to work toward lasting security solutions.

“This collaborative approach reflects maturity in leadership and a clear understanding that sustainable peace requires dialogue, coordination, and shared responsibility,” Tyopuusu stated.

He added that in moments of crisis, leadership must remain visible and decisive, noting that the governor’s renewed security assurances, cross-border cooperation, and humanitarian commitments represent a critical step toward stabilising affected communities and rebuilding public trust.

Tyopuusu also applauded Governor Kefas for the successful conduct of the ruling party’s ward, local government, and state congresses across Taraba State, describing the exercise as peaceful and orderly.

He specifically congratulated the newly elected State Chairman, Abubakar Bawa, and the State Women Leader, Margaret Mchivga, who hails from Chanchanji Ward.(The Guardian)
